Raven Cliff Falls — 420ft Segmented in South Carolina
Raven Cliff Falls is a 420-foot segmented waterfall in Greenville County, South Carolina, reached by a moderate hike over 4.9 miles.
Raven Cliff Falls is a 420-foot multi-segmented waterfall in Caesars Head State Park in upstate South Carolina — one of the tallest waterfalls in the eastern U.S. and the marquee feature of the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area. The 4.9-mile out-and-back trail from the Caesars Head visitor center is moderate-to-strenuous, with the falls accessible only from a viewing platform several hundred yards away (not at the base — the cliff terrain prevents close approach). Fall foliage in October is the iconic season.
What to expect
Drive into Caesars Head State Park (about an hour northwest of Greenville, SC). Use the self-serve fee envelope at the trailhead lot. The 4.9-mile out-and-back trail follows the Foothills Trail with some elevation gain. The falls viewpoint is a wooden platform looking across to the falls — you don't get close to the base. Multiple smaller cascades along the trail. Pair with Table Rock State Park (15 minutes north) for the famous Table Rock summit hike or with Caesars Head's namesake granite overlook.
